Into the Wild, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and education organization that promotes humane action by empowering individuals and communities to peacefully coexist with wildlife.
We help concerned persons determine if an animal truly needs help and advise on how to keep the animal safe until it can be transported to a Wildlife Rehabilitator. If we determined that a young animal does not need rescue, we walk the finder through the steps of reuniting the young animal with its parents. Whenever necessary and feasible, we physically aid in the rescue of distressed wildlife. If we can’t help, we will find someone that can!
Have a wildlife conflict?
We can help you find long-term, humane solutions and save you money in the process!
Into the Wild, Inc. does more than care for injured and orphaned wildlife. We provide the following services:
We rely on donations from the public to carry out these activities. We never take a salary; everything we do is on a volunteer basis.
Raccoons, skunks and bats (oh my!)
All three species are considered “Rabies Vector Species” (RVS) in New York State – making it difficult to find care for these species.
All RVS are welcome at Into the Wild, Inc. Our rehabilitators are among the few Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitators in NYS to also hold the Certification required to rehabilitate RVS. We are committed to ensuring that no RVS species in need are left to perish or are unnecessarily euthanized because of a lack of available rehabilitation services.
Our goals and activities are continually expanding, mainly because we view wildlife rehabilitation from a holistic perspective.
We believe in the principles of One Health; the health of humans and wildlife are interconnected.
We are dedicated to contributing to the advancement of the profession of wildlife rehabilitation and engaging in productive discourse with our colleagues across the U.S.
We envision a future where there truly are no silos, just collaboration for the greater good.
Please support your local wildlife rehabilitators!
